And one more for your Friday

Photo Sharing

I noticed one of my clematis' had started to bloom. I took the opportunity to play with some macro shots of the beautiful bloom.

I love how bright this is and how the water droplets are so vivid. Here is another.
Have a happy Friday all!

Blue Room

There is a family in our neighborhood that sadly, lost their two year old a few weeks ago. Apparently, the father was home with the child who was sick with a cold or allergies. From what I have heard, he gave him some medicine and put him down for a nap. When he went up later, the boy was blue and had no pulse. Police, fire and medic arrived, but were unable to revive him. I do not know what happened, if it was an allergic reaction or what. The mother was about 8 months pregnant and was hospitalized for shock.

Last night, I was out for my evening walk when I walked by the house where this family lives. They had the windows in a front bedroom open and the lights on. I could see that they had been painting, as they had two walls done and around the top of the ceiling. The room is being painted blue. I can only imagine the anguish they must be feeling. How difficult would it be to be excited for a new boy to be born while still mourning the death of your other boy. My heart goes out to the entire family...

Soccer

Yesterday was PM's first soccer game of the season. We are playing at a different place than we have before. They do things a little bit different over here. They are now playing three on three with no goalie for the 5-6 year olds. DQ's first game is on Saturday and they also play three on three with no goalie for the 3-4 year olds. Neither division keeps score.

While he didn't score any goals, he did very, very well! Also, shhh, don't tell anyone, but we won 9-1...

Here he is with his best friend before the game started:Here he is in action, gotta love that tongue!
I love, love, love this shot, as I can see that he is really having fun playing!
Here are a few of him resting at halftime. He really is a ball hog and won't let anyone else have it during halftime.
We really have to work on this:

Turn Around

Well, it used to be that PM's best little friend was the one always getting "brown barns" at school, but now it is PM. Let me explain the barns. They start the morning with a "red barn". If they are sent to time-out or "talked to" three or more times, it gets changed to a "brown barn". If they are really, awful, it gets changed to a "black barn" and they get a letter/note sent home.

Since we returned from Disney, PM has had real problems at school. First he was talking constantly. Now he just isn't listening. He flat out refused to do his worksheets on Tuesday. The teacher even gave him extra time and he just sat there. Oh my, what am I in for when he gets older?!! He received a "brown barn" both Monday and Tuesday of this week, so I decided to pay a visit to his classroom on Wednesday morning to talk to his teacher. It went well, but he still got a "brown barn" that day. His teacher did send a note home that he had done better, just not quite well enough.

Today he did it though. He finished the day with a "red barn"!!! Yippee!! Let's hope the trend of constant brown is over! So, why did I start off talking about his friend? Because his friend used to get all of these. I pick him up along with PM, so I got the duty of telling his mom, who is a good friend of mine, that he had a "brown barn" everyday. I know she was frustrated. I felt bad for her, but at the back of mind was always "I have the good kid. I am so glad I don't have to deal with that! Ha!" Well, look what came back to bite me in the ass!

So, I have to get over these thoughts that PM is better than the other kids. But, how does a mom do that? Seriously?

Nipples

Last evening as I was drying DQ off from her bath, she became fascinated by her nipples. She asked what they were and I told her. Our discussion continued to include that when she got bigger she would have breasts. She was so funny when she asked if her nipples would be on her breasts. She also asked if she would grow bras. My daughter didn't understand that the bra is a piece of clothing and breasts are part of your body. Hopefully now she does. Unfortunately, with my luck, she will probably try to discuss nipples and breasts with the rest of her class today. I'll have to hide my head when I pick her up from school.

I do bask in how naive she still is though. One day this will all be just a memory.

Ding Dong, Ding Dong

That is the sound I am hearing right now coming from DQ's room where her and PM are playing with barbies. Yes, you heard that correctly, they are both playing with barbies. DQ has many of the various princess barbies and I can hear them in there playing. Ariel has just rang the doorbell, and for some reason, Cinderella isn't letting her in, so she keeps ringing it.

I just love it when my kids play nicely together. I am also very glad for their imaginations. Remember when you had one? I do. I used to be able to play for hours on end with barbies, baby dolls, hot wheels cars, etc... Now, it takes some major concentration to be able to conjure up a pretend world to entertain them. Children are so much better at imaginative play. I wonder what the world would be like if adults were too?

Coblation

That is the procedure they will use when they remove both of my tonsils on May 7. While I am very excited to finally get this over and be done once and for all with being sick, I am now petrified after watching the video on this site. I'll warn you, don't go there if you can't handle a little bit of blood...

Yell Free Morning

Last night, I informed PM that in the morning I expected him to listen so that I didn't have to yell. We discussed how he should get dressed when I tell him to without goofing off, etc... So, this morning was the real test. I didn't have to yell at him at all. I started to loose it a little with DQ, but quickly regained composure.

Why am I telling you this? Because I am sick of yelling at my kids all the time to get them to do what I want. Since I haven't been feeling well, I have been yelling more and more. So, beginning today, I am making a conscious effort to not yell and to be a better mom. I'll keep you posted on my progress.

Oh, and I am having my tonsils out, but I do not know when yet.

Baby Lust

Do you ever go to visit a friend who recently had a baby and get baby lust? I do. BD says I am crazy and no way we will have another one, and I tend to agree with him. But, when I see PM and DQ with one, I kind of question that decision. They both were so good with our friends baby. And, they both look so big with him!!

My Little Cowboy

Last week, PM had "Cowboy & Indian Day" at school one day. I thought he looked so cute standing in the powder room washing his hands after school I had to snap these pictures...
Sigh... Why are they growing up so quickly? Then, both kids had pictures yesterday and they looked so cute. I tried to snap a few photos in the morning before they left. We didn't have a lot of time, but here they are:

My Ongoing Tonsil Saga

Well, after being on an antibiotic and prednisone while at Disney for the week, of course it flared back up about 4 days after I was done with the treatment. I went back last Friday and was told to try this other antibiotic and they would get me in with the ENT that I want to see (he is the same one that took care of both of my kids). Well, he is the head guy at the practice now, as the founder of the practice died suddenly last year, so he is now swamped.

I started the new antibiotic Friday night, so I will be done Monday (9th) morning with it. They say that they spoke to the doc and he said I could push it out 2-3 weeks and if I needed a refill before then, I could call in. DAMMIT, I don't want another refill, I want to see him and get this thing taken care of. I am scared of what is going on that it is something bad and want to either start treating it or have reassurance that it is not. So, my appointment is April 24, yes, you are seeing that right.

I have been on four different classes of antibiotics. As my one friend (who is an ER Physicians Assistant) put it, all the bacteria in my body are dead except the strep!

ARGH!!!!!!! I am so sick and tired of having pain in my neck/ear from my tonsil and lymph nodes. I am sick and tired of being tired all the time and having body aches (kind of like when you have the flu). I am sick of being grumpy with the kids because I don't feel well.
