Back from Disney!

Well, we are back from our fun filled trip to Disney. Typing up all of our adventures would fill up this entire page, so I'll just hit some highlights for you right now.

We arrived on Sunday afternoon and headed to Downtown Disney and Planet Hollywood for dinner. Here we are at dinner:

The kids were so very excited, as you can see here while they are in front of the Lego Dragon:
They loved the character meals. At the first breakfast they saw Tigger, Pooh, Eeyore and Piglet. I just think DQ looks so cute here!

The kids waited very patiently for the parade at Magic Kingdom. While they were waiting they got to play a game and really enjoyed themselves:
The parade was awesome! Here is a shot of Minnie from the parade:
While DQ loved all of the plush/stuffed characters, she completely freaked out with the princesses. Of course before we went she was all about seeing them. But, in real life they scared the shit out of her! We had lunch in Cinderella's castle too, lucky us:They were all very nice though and Belle even snuck up behind DQ and had me snap a picture real quick so that I could have one without her crying in it.

There is lots more to write about, but I'll save it for another day. I am now off to try to catch up on a few other blogs to see what all I have missed!

Asshat of the day goes to...

The woman in this article. Seriously folks, if you find a suspicious looking device in your mailbox, please leave it there. Don't put it in your car, drive your kid to elementary school and call the police when you get there. That results in the bomb squad going to the elementary school. Do you think that may have scared a few kids or parents? Do you? Do you?

Suspicious looking device + elementary school = not a good idea

It's Been A While...

It seems like I go in spurts. I may post three or four times in a day and then not again for a few days. Sorry about that. I need to get a little bit better about that.

Anyway, I have been so busy with not only work (the big DST change you know) and with things at home. I have a consignment sale that I participate in both in the Spring and Fall and this is that time. I have to take all of my items on Thursday after work. Then, I have to volunteer on Friday after work. Lastly, I have to pick everything up on Saturday evening.

To top it off, we are leaving for Disney on Sunday morning. I am trying to get all of the kids and our summer clothes out and packed, but with the consignment stuff going on, it is hard. Plus, the cleaning lady comes on Wednesday, so I have to pick up the house for that.

I know, this doesn't sound like much to some of you that have "real" issues, but it is stressing me out!

PM Tells a Story

The quality on this sound isn't the best, but he is basically telling a bible story in his own words that he heard at school. The jist of it is that a boy really wanted his money and got it from his dad, then he went far away (with his "suitcases in his hand and money in his pocket"), he started buying things for people ("hey, you want me to get you a haircut?, you want some food?"), then he thought he had no more money so he took off his shoes.

Can't Hide Things Anymore

So, last night, I fed the kids before BD got home from work. On his way home, he picked up chinese food for us for dinner. I knew we had to hide it from the kids or they would want Egg Drop Soup. This would be fine, except right before bed. Way too many liquids if you know what I mean. So, we sent them upstairs to brush their teeth and watch a movie while we ate dinner.

So, anyway, fast forward to this morning. PM opens the fridge to get out his milk for breakfast and sees the big container of soup. He says, "Is that Egg Drop Soup?" He puts his hands on his hips and says, "Were you trying to hide that from me? Did you think I wouldn't see that?" BD and I started laughing so hard! Then, DQ walks down the stairs and says, "What's so funny down here, what's all this laughing about?" in a tone that is just as funny.

Those family moments are the moments I cherish...

Out of the mouth of a child

As I was lying with DQ tonight, we were talking about kisses. I told her "mommy and daddy kisses are ok, but boys kisses are yucky!" She said PM's kisses were yucky and I told her those were ok. Then, I proceeded to say that Elijah and Ben's kisses were yucky. She replied with "Ben's kisses aren't yucky because he loves me and I love him!" Yes, my daughter is betrothed I guess, and has been since she was 6 months old, to Ben. The "are in love" as she puts it. Sigh, what's a mom of a four year old to do?

On a much more serious note, I was talking with PM while lying with him and he brought something up that I didn't even know that he knew anything about. A few months back, a little boy in kindergarten at his school was shot accidentally by his 8 year old brother and died. We didn't really discuss it too much with him at the time because he didn't know the child and we didn't feel he needed to know about it. Tonight he tells me about a little boy named Matthew who's "older brother shot him in the eye with a real gun." He proceeded to give me some details, like his brother found the gun by accident and accidentally touched the part that made it shoot. I tried to gloss over the part about what actually happened to the boy and use it as a lesson about gun safety, but boy was that hard!

Something that Made Me Smile

This morning, after dropping the kids off at school, I was on my way back home and had one of those moments. You know the kind, where you see something and it just makes you smile. I was driving down a residential side street that I use to cut through to my neighborhood when it happened. I saw a small, young bunny start to run out. I was able to slow down and watch it happily hop across the street and keep on going, presumably home to it's family.

It just made me smile.

How Ironic!

I just checked my stats this morning and saw that I had a hit from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada using Shaw Communications. My uncle lives near there in Red Deer and also uses Shaw. He has two sons that live there too. Hmmm... I wonder...

Also, a co-worker just found me out here in cyberspace, so I wanted to give her a shout out. C- lucky for me I don't ever write about my work, but you are going to get a dose of my non-work side, so be prepared!
